Advanced class prerequisites: Must be able to walk to cruzada, understand parallel and crossed systems of walking, perform turns (giros) in both directions, be conversant with the 3 rhythms (vals, tango and milonga), do all of the above with quality of movement, musicality and connection, and navigate safely on the dance floor with an understanding of the dance-floor etiquette that preserves enjoyment of this dance for everyone.
Weekly Group Lessons
Teacher: Alice Laule
Time: 7:30 to 9 PM every Tuesday, with a guided practica from 9 PM to 9:30 PM for those who want to stay and practice.
Location: The Fitness Club, 200 Hwy 43 East, Harrison, Arkansas (see “maps” section for further instructions)
Cost: Free, but tips are appreciated
Prerequisites: None – just bring yourself, your sense of joy, and a pair of shoes that will not stick to the floor but fit your feet firmly. Not necessary to have a partner, nor to have a membership in The Fitness Club.
About the teachers: Leonardo has been dancing Argentine Tango for over 14 years and teaching Argentine Tango for 7-8 years. He is currently performing on-stage in Branson Tuesday’s through Saturdays with his partner, Nancy, as part of the Million Dollar Piano Show, 8 PM to 10 PM. The theatre is behind Olive Garden at the junction of Hwy 76 and Shepherd of the Hills Rd. in Branson, Missouri. Previously Leonardo and his partner, June, were instrumental in starting an active Argentine Tango community in Dallas, TX.
Alice Laule has been dancing Argentine Tango for four years, and assisting Leonardo in teaching for the last two years. She has attended workshops and festivals all over the country, learning from Buenos Aires natives, and many other excellent dancers. She has an extensive modern dance background from high school and college classes, which she has put to good use in learning the art of tango and sharing it with others. She has been instrumental in starting an active and growing Argentine Tango community in Harrison, Arkansas.
